What you'll be doing
- Build and maintain relationships with policymakers and other stakeholders with a strong focus in Brussels, but also managing our public policy issues throughout greater Europe
- Advocate for Discord’s position on key legislative and regulatory initiatives that will impact our users and our business, balancing direct advocacy with effective leverage from coalitions and associations
- Advocate for Discord’s priorities in industry trade groups
- Monitor and analyze policy developments in Brussels and other key EMEA markets, such as the Netherlands, France, and Germany
- Develop public policy materials such as position papers, talking points, presentations, and consultation responses, for engagement with our partners
- Engage with cross-functional partners (Legal, Trust and Safety, Communications, Policy), reporting on policy developments and gathering their input
You will thrive in this role if
- 5 years experience working in government, civil society, politics, or industry in Brussels and/or the greater Europe region with a focus on digital policies
- Master’s Degree or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of the policy landscape in Brussels/greater Europe, including laws and regulations and important partners
- Excellent written and oral English language skills
- Great networker and communicator
- Openness to new experiences, collaboration, passion.
- Commitment to Discord’s mission to be the place online where everyone can find belonging
- Willingness to travel in the EMEA region
Bonus Points
- Fluency in French or Dutch
- Experience representing a U.S. company in the region
- Familiarity with Discord as a user
